Next Class: March 18, 2017 from 930am to 430pm.
Do you have MASTERY of your lighting? No?
Do you want to ROCK your studio lighting skills? Yes?
Then you should join us for our hands-on, intense lighting program!
This program picks up where our KickStart Studio Lighting and Intermediate Studio Lighting classes leave off and carries the torch farther down the road! In this program we teach you the finer points of seeing and using light in our 6,000 s.f. rental studio here in Manchester, NH.
Completely hands on, this program puts you and your small group in the driver’s seat as you work through photographic assignments given to you by your instructor. The assignments cover a range of areas from head shots and portraits, to editorial assignments and fine art. We use all sorts of light modifiers and gels to attain our goals!
The class format is straight forward – you get an assignment, you plan the assignment, you shoot it – and then you show your results to the class! The instructors are there to help you through the speed bumps and nudge you as needed. The lessons learned are not random – the assignments are carefully planned to keep you on track and learning! The whole process repeats itself a number of times during the day.
Wear comfortable shoes – this is not a PowerPoint Class
This is a hands-on, busy-in-the-studio type of class. There is no PowerPoint, there is no “watch while the instructor does it”. This is you, with a camera in your hands, solving problems in the studio – learning to make great images. Learn the tools, and the methods, to make better images. And learn in a way to teaches you how to apply solution to real world lighting challenges. We tell you to wear comfortable shoes because you will be on your feet all day – working and learning.
We learn by shooting
This class will be taught much like the second half of our KickStart Studio Lighting Class. We will present the students with a photographic lighting assignment, and the students will shoot the assignment – and in so doing learn to both “see” and “do”
What you need to bring
For each class, be sure to bring your camera with a freshly charged battery, memory card, and your instruction manual (if you have one!).
Our class is held in Studios A and B at SOPHA, at 15 Merrill Street in Manchester, NH. We are five minutes off of major highways and parking is easy.
The course is one day, from 930am to 430pm. We start on time, so give yourself time to get here. The course date is at the top and bottom of this listing!
We don’t have big classes.
This class will have a maximum of twelve students. You get tons of time with the instructor to ask all the questions you like!
What you need to bring:
Please bring your DSLR/Mirrorless camera, a charged battery, and a memory card. Most images we create will work best with a mid-range telephoto lens, such as the 70-200mm. Lenses shorter than 50mm are rarely used. If you don’t have a lens you like, please consider renting one from our Rental Department. Please call to reserve a lens if you need it.
Because this class is held on the weekend and after business hours there will be plenty of street parking right in front of SOPHA. If you need more space, please park in Ron’s Toy Shop. Do NOT park in the Jazzercise lot behind the building – they are awesome folks, but they hold classes at all hours so we don’t want to take up their spaces.
Don’t hesitate to contact us with your questions! You can reach us using the response form on this page, by email, or give us a call at (603) 782-8403.
