Point of View Farm, Deerfield, New Hampshire
Presented by Bud Thorpe and the SOPHA Staff
THE LINE UP OF EVENTS IS LISTED AT THE BOTTOM!
This is the program you have been waiting for. Really. It is.
We are proud to announce our Farm event for 2017. We always joke: you came for the photography, but got hooked on the fun and the food.
What is “The Farm”?
The Farm is our annual class, shoot, and portfolio builder. We have revamped this program completely for 2017!
Who should participate?
Photographers interested in family, pet, fashion, editorial, food, glamour, or portraiture. We have a number of concept shoots planned that cross all the genres.
How is the program run?
We have a number concept shoots planned, each run by a capable photographer, instructor, and their assistants. See and learn how they set it all up, and then shoot it too! Jump in and help so you can learn by doing! This is a hands on, interactive program. There are no PowerPoint slides!
Is this program held on a farm?
That’s right! We take over a 60 acre horse farm in Deerfield, New Hampshire and make use of the fields, barn, pond and other spaces to create awesome images. The farm has the facilities for groups, including restrooms and such.
The shoot will start at 10am and end at 5pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017.
What you need to bring:
Please bring your DSLR/Mirrorless camera, a charged battery, and a memory card. Most images we create will work best with a mid-range telephoto lens, such as the 70-200mm. Lenses shorter than 50mm are rarely used. If you don’t have a lens you like, please consider renting one from our Rental Department. Because we are outside, many folks find viewing hoods/loupes handy, such as the Hoodman or the Zacuto Z-Finder Jr.
As we will be outside, we recommend bringing a hat and wearing sunscreen. We also recommend, strongly, the use of bug spray, against mosquitoes and black flies.
Water, Snacks, and Lunch
SOPHA will be providing water, soda, and snacks throughout the day. A group lunch will be served at 1pm! Our lunch is catered by the folks from the farm and the food is fantastic, fresh, and straight from the kitchen!. No pizza served here! Those with particular dietary needs should plan on bringing their own lunch. If you have questions, please contact us.
This program is being held on a working horse farm in Deerfield, NH. The location features barns, fields, woods, and a small pond. It is the perfect backdrop for our workshop! We have access to bathrooms and a group meeting room as well. Honestly, we have run this program here every year and the location could not be better!
