Make great images in any light!
This full-day program will show you how to make great images in challenging lighting situations – outdoors!  From bright sun to deep shade, you will learn to use the full range of equipment and techniques – from the simplest to the most complex.

Who is this program for?
This class is aimed squarely at those who want to control the lighting in their outdoor photography sessions.  The techniques in this class apply to a range of photographic pursuits from portraiture to high school seniors, weddings and engagements, and commercial and event work as well.  If you need to control light outside of a formal studio, this is your class.  More experienced photographers can use this program to fill in gaps from self-learning and to help them solve specific challenges they are facing in their own business or art.

Are you a natural light photographer?
We should also mention that this class is a perfect progression for natural light location photographers – learning to be able to create the light you want when and where you need it is a skill which will greatly expand your business.  After all – being able to create your vision anytime and anywhere is your ultimate goal!

About our day
In the morning over coffee and pastries we will discuss the important fundamentals of outdoor lighting so you never have to miss an opportunity to shoot where and when you like.  We will discuss working in sun and shade, determine exposures, and the get into the nitty gritty of working with speedlights and studios lights outdoors.

We will enjoy a delicious catered lunch in the barn from our friends at Roots, a community-based café featuring high quality locally-sourced meals.  Roots is the brain-child and labor of love of the talented Amber and Joshua Enright.  Roots is headquartered in the iconic Robies Country Store and has been a fixture in Hooksett, New Hampshire since 1822 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

After lunch you will learn hands on with your camera in your hands.  Using our model family of four as our subjects, you will use the techniques and gear discussed in the morning to create portfolio worthy images.   Our new model family is a mom and dad and two school-aged girls.  They are cute as a button!

About our location
We will use the beautiful fields and barns of the Morrison House Museum as a backdrop for this hands-on photography workshop.  This fantastic property is owned by the Londonderry Historical Society.  With New England style structures and fields, it is a perfect backdrop for our work.

Your program includes our bound book: From Natural Light to Strobes
Over thirty pages of carefully authored content on this specific subject, including how to determine exposure, histograms, and equipment recommendations and comparisons.  This book also includes discussions about off camera flash and studio lighting as well as the newest high speed sync and TTL capable location lighting kits.   We sell this book for $40 separately and it is included in your fee.

Small class size, big results.
We will have a maximum of twelve participants, but we will likely have fewer. This means you get lots of time to drill down on the subject matter and learn! Go beyond just getting the exposure right, to really learning how to solve real world lighting problems using a hands-on thinking approach!
