Recreating the Hollywood Portrait

A full day exploring the style of Hollywood portraiture from 1930-1950.

Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 930am to 5pm
Studio A and B at SOPHA, Manchester, NH

This program is the first in a new series of Top Shelf Photographic Educational Experiences.

The iconic portraits of the Golden Age of Hollywood were created to sell the Stars and launched an industry which still captivates to this day.  The work of George Hurrell, C.S. Bull, Laszlo Willinger and many others shaped how America viewed its movie stars and had a profound impact on many aspects of American life.

Join us for this complete photographic program as we explore the history and techniques behind these images of the 1930s through 1950s.  We will give you an in-depth look at this style and show you how these images were created then and how you can create them now.

Using agency models and a professional hair and makeup artist, we will create our own ‘iconic’ images in the studio.  Following our hands-on studio time, we will then delve into the post-production process with step-by-step demonstrations in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Lunch will be catered by Roots, a community-based café featuring high quality locally-sourced meals.  Roots is the brain-child and labor of love of the talented Amber and Joshua Enright.  Roots is headquartered in the iconic Robies Country Store and has been a fixture in Hooksett, New Hampshire since 1822 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
